Staying safe
- Complying with the UAE child protection legislation
- Staff training, rigorous vetting and recruitment procedures
- Children are encouraged to learn about safety through various activities, such as – car and road safety, staff role modelling activities to encourage them to protect themselves, calling for help and being self assured
- Rigorous risk assessment
- Promoting safety as part of planning
- Encouraging children to take safe risks in their play
Being healthy
- Encouraging children to be aware of healthy practices and lifestyles
- Regular hand washing opportunities
- Role play – dentist, hospital, doctors etc
- Healthy lunch boxes
- Promoting positive self image and identity
- Promoting positive self-esteem
- Healthy feelings
- Sharing stories from home
- Promoting physical development and exercise

Enjoying and achieving through learning
- Children are encouraged to attend and enjoy their nursery experience through the offering of stimulating activities and experiences in an environment which is child led.
- Children’s progress is monitored across age appropriate developmental milestones, ensuring all children are progressing towards Early Learning Goals
- Staff meet out of nursery hours to discuss all children’s developing needs and interests, observations and the planning of activities.
- Children are encouraged to develop healthy independence through all activities and routines during the day.
Making a positive contribution to society
- Putting together an end of year performance
- Helping those children younger than themselves
- Developing caring relationships for each other
- Taking part in events celebrating cultural diversity
- Promoting the idea of global citizens
- Welcoming parents and visitors to the nursery
- All children are confident and secure enough to welcome new ideas and activities and to have a go at something new.
Achieving economic well being
- Role playing with money at nursery market stalls and grocery stores
- Visiting and listening to people who work in our community such as fire officers, chefs etc
- Visiting real life places where goods are bought and sold (vegetable markets, fish market etc)
- Investigating where food comes from and cooking with fresh produce.
There are numerous opportunities daily, weekly, monthly, termly, annually, that arise in our setting, these are just a sample.
